William Arthur Cooper

Dr. William Arthur Cooper, M.D. is a physician based in Atlanta, Georgia. He is Board certified in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery. He did his medical graduation from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine in the year 1992. He also did MBA on health care from Emory University - Goizueta Business School in 2013. He completed his residency and fellowship from Emory University School of Medicine where he holds the position of Associate Professor since January 2001. He is a well-rounded visionary healthcare leader with a passionate interest in healthcare transformation, quality, safety, resource utilization and health education. He is a decorated Army Veteran who has performed over 6,000 surgeries including the hospital’s very first open-heart surgery. He is the Founder and Chairman Prime Health Services Group and Founder of Cooper and Company Consulting. He is also the Medical Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Dr. Cooper’s clinical research has been published in over 100 national journals including Circulation, Journal of Pediatric Surgery and Annals of Thoracic Surgery. And later this fall, Dr. Cooper will add the title of Published Author to his long list of accolades with the launch of his new book, “Heart Attack: Triumph. Truth. Tragedy.” – an original health and wellness reference that will take readers inside the lives of heart attack survivors. He was awarded the prestigious Georgia Hospital Heroes Physician Hero Award at the Georgia Hospital Association’s (GHA) Annual Meeting for his remarkable patient care through his work as a cardiovascular surgeon. He has active licenses in the state of Florida, Colorado, South Dakota, Nebraska, Georgia, Oklahoma, Virginia, Missouri, Utah, Texas, Illinois, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
