Valerie Leigh Purcell

Valerie Purcell is a licensed as a registered nurse in Texas and Florida and certified as a life care planner by the International Commission on Healthcare Certification to provide life care plans throughout the United States. After becoming a registered nurse in 1981, she has a broad range of clinical experience, including a variety of operating room specialties, post-anesthesia care unit, orthopedic surgery, trauma, rehabilitation and critical care. She founded MediLegal Matters consulting practice in 1999 which advises hospitals, practices, and healthcare providers on legal, regulatory, and business development matters. She also founded LifeCare Collaborative as a Certified Life Care Planner in 2010 to address long term medical needs assessments and economic injury valuation for catastrophically injured or chronically ill clients. At present she is serving as CEO, Chief Nurse Consultant, MediLegal Matters/LifeCare Collaborative. She also served as Senior Vice President, Chief Clinical Integration Officer Patient Central Technologies, Inc., Critical Care Medicine Nurse Clinician and Practice Administrator Medical Center Intensivists, P.A., Quality Manager-Houston-Galveston area Humana Health Plans, and Director Quality Management, The Methodist Hospital. Since 1999, she has been a nurse consultant in the area of regulatory compliance for health care organizations, including medical schools, healthcare facilities and physician practices. She has extensively consulted for plaintiff and defense firms in medical malpractice, product liability, mass torts, and other personal injury matters. She has utilized her comprehensive clinical background to augment her expertise as a certified Life Care Planner.
