Author of over 185 peer-reviewed publications and over 100 conference presentations, he has served as associate editor of the Journal of Behavior Therapy and sits on ten editorial boards, including those of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, and Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice. He has been awarded the Dublin Award for Lifetime Contributions to Suicide Research, American Association for Suicidology in 2016, Charles T. Ruby Award, Catholic Charities (2015), Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor of Psychology, Florida State University (2010) and he is a Fellow at John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation (2003). He has been the Director of the University Psychology Clinic, Florida State University and a Legal Consultant at Tallahassee, Florida in 2014.
