Dr. Stevan M. Weine, M.D. is a distinguished psychiatrist and educator with extensive expertise in trauma and mental health. He earned his B.A. in American Studies from the University of Michigan in 1982 and his M.D. from Columbia University in 1987. Following his residency in psychiatry at Yale University, he completed a fellowship in college student mental health and psychotherapy. Dr. Weine is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been licensed to practice in Illinois since 1995.

Currently, Dr. Weine serves as a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he has been a faculty member since 1995. He is also the Founder and Services and Research Director of the Kosovar Family Professional Education Collaborative and has played a pivotal role in various mental health initiatives for refugees and immigrants. His work includes consulting roles with the Bosnian Mental Health Program and the Chicago Refugee Center. Additionally, Dr. Weine is an accomplished leader in the field, having held several prominent positions, including Chair of the Interest Group on Human Rights and Social Policies at the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
