Dr. Samir Samuel Awad M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S. is a surgical critical care expert witness from Texas. He has an active medical license from the state of Texas and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He completed his undergraduate education from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia, PA, where he obtained a B.S.E in Bioengineering in the year 1989. He then earned his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in 1993. During his postgraduate training he completed an internship and residency in Categorical General Surgery Program at University of Michigan Hospitals. He further completed fellowship in Surgical Critical Care and in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and in Liquid Ventilation at University of Michigan Hospitals at Ann Arbor. Currently, Dr. Awad is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Vice-Chair for Surgical Quality and Safety in the Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and Acting Chief of Surgery, Chief and Medical Director SICU at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.
