Roy W. Deppa P.E. is a mechanical engineer with extensive experience in consumer product safety, regulatory compliance, and engineering analysis. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1971.
Mr. Deppa worked in naval research from 1971 to 1978, focusing on advanced composite materials and structural applications for marine systems. He then joined the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), where he served from 1978 to 2005 in technical and supervisory roles. He also led engineering work on all-terrain vehicle safety, provided technical support in enforcement matters, and supervised compliance personnel.
From 2005 to 2019, Mr. Deppa was a partner at Marchica & Deppa, LLC, providing consulting services on consumer product safety regulations, CPSC procedures, and recall obligations. He currently consults through Product Safety Analysis, LLC, advising on CPSC reporting requirements, product hazards, and recall processes, and providing expert witness support in litigation involving federal safety statutes and agency practices.
