Dr. Robert John Delorenzo, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H. is a physician based in Richmond, Virginia. He is Board certified in Neurology. He did his medical graduation from Yale University School of Medicine in the year 1974. He earned his Ph.D. from Yale University, New Haven in 1972 and Masters in Public Health in 1973 from the same institution. His clinical specialties include Epilepsy: specializing in difficult epilepsy diagnosis and treatment. Headache Clinic: specializing in intractable headache, including migraine, muscle spasm headache, cluster headaches, and other pain problems. Stroke: specializing in stroke prevention and acute stroke management. Back and Neck Pain: specializing in chronic back and neck problems that are not treatable surgically. His research focuses on Epilepsy, stroke, molecular biology, signal transduction in neurons and calcium-second messenger systems. He is a Professor in the department of Neurology, Division of Adult Neurology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He was the former Associate Professor, Neurology, Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Delorenzo was Elected to the Professional Advisory Board of the National Stroke Association in 1984 and the recipient of the First Annual Dixon Woodbury Memorial Lecture Award for distinguished research in neuropharmacology by University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah in 1994. He also served as an Neurologic Consultant to the Connecticut Mental Health Center, New Haven, CT from 1978 to 1985. He is licensed to practice in the state of Virginia.
