Dr. Blackwell completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident and Instructor. Additionally, he is licensed to practice in Texas (License #4209) and Alabama (License #7352). He holds certifications from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Board of Reproductive Medicine, and the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
In terms of experience, Dr. Blackwell has had a distinguished career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he is a Professor Emeritus, Clinical Professor, and has held leadership roles such as Acting Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility and Director of the Center for Contraceptive Research and Technology Transfer. His work spans a wide range of areas, including reproductive biology, diagnostic and research laboratories, and educational roles in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Blackwell has been actively involved in clinical research, teaching, and service as a member of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, and has contributed significantly to advancements in his field throughout his extensive career.
