Randall Lynn Tackett, Ph.D., is a pharmacologist and toxicologist with over four decades of academic and professional experience. He currently serves as Professor and Associate Department Head in the Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy, where he has been on faculty since 1981. His academic responsibilities have included teaching courses on physiology, pathophysiology, advanced therapeutics, ethics, forensic pharmacy, and drug abuse. He has also provided continuing education to legal and healthcare professionals on toxicology, pharmacology, and drug testing interpretation.

Dr. Tackett earned his B.S. in Biology from Jacksonville University (1975), M.S. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Auburn University (1977), and Ph.D. in the same field from the University of Georgia (1979). He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (1979–1981).

His previous roles at the University of Georgia include Professor (1995–present), Department Head of Pharmacology and Toxicology (1989–1994), and Coordinator for Research and Graduate Studies. He also serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Adjunct Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine at UGA. He has served as an expert witness in multiple states on the toxicology and pharmacology of alcohol and drugs.
