Dr. White completed his B.S. in 1971 from the University of South Carolina. Then he earned his M.S. in 1973 and his Ph.D. in 1977 from the University of California at Berkeley.
Currently, Dr. White is the Professor of Chemical Engineering and is the Westinghouse Distinguished Scientist at the University of South Carolina. Prior to this, he was the Dean and Director at College of Engineering and Information Technology at University of South Carolina. Further before that, he was the Distinguished Scientist and Chairman in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of South Carolina.
Dr. White has additional knowledge in electrochemical systems, mathematical modeling, batteries, corrosion and electro-deposition.
