Philip Ralph Weinstein

Philip Ralph Weinstein, M.D. is a Neurosurgeon in San Francisco, California. He has been in practice for more than 45 years. Dr. Weinstein specializes in the treatment of adult disc disease, adult spinal deformities and spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, complex spinal instrumentation, degenerative neuro-spinal disorders, spinal axis tumors, spinal cord vascular malformations, and spinal trauma or instability. He has used advanced magnetic resonance imaging techniques in the study of diffusion and perfusion and spectroscopic imaging to detect thresholds of viability. He has involved in molecular biologic approaches to mechanisms of ischemic neuronal injury in the brain and spinal cord and the study of impairment of blood flow regulation. He earned his medical degree in 1965 from New York University College of Medicine. He has completed his residency in Neurological Surgery in University of California San Francisco from 1966 to 1971. He joined the IND faculty in 2016. Following a distinguished clinical, research, and teaching career in neurosurgery, mostly at University of California San Francisco. He has practicing medical license in California since 1966 and his license will expire in 2021.
