He holds a B.S. in Oceanography from the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated as a Distinguished Graduate. He earned his M.S. Ed. in Physical Education/Higher Education from James Madison University in 1972. Dr. Bishop completed his Ed.D. in Physical Education, specializing in Exercise Physiology, at the University of Georgia under the advisement of Kirk Cureton in 1983.
