He completed his Bachelor of Arts with honours in Microbiology in 1980 from the Miami University of Ohio, Oxford, Ohio and then earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1984 from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, Ohio. He then pursued his internship in the Department of Surgery in 1985 and residency in Neurosurgery in 1990 from the Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. He further pursued his fellowship in Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery in 1991 from the Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix, Arizona and Master Business Administration in 2004 from the University of Michigan School of Business, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Currently, Dr. McCormick is a neurosurgeon at Mercy Health-St. Vincent Medical Centre, ProMedica Toledo Hospital and ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. He is also a clinical assistant professor department of Surgery at Medical College of Ohio School of Medicine since 2001. He has numerous publications to his credit. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Heart Association Stroke Council.
