Dr. Herrera Veitia has held research appointments including Inclusive Excellence Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto Scarborough and Nasir Jones Fellow at the Hiphop Archive and Research Institute at Harvard University. His scholarship focuses on Afro-Cuban rap, archives, race, and cultural history, with publications in edited academic volumes, peer-reviewed journals, and international media platforms. He has also contributed to academic and public discourse through book chapters, journal articles, and cultural criticism.

His teaching experience includes appointments at the University of Florida, University of St. Andrews, and the University of Havana, where he has lectured on Latin American studies, ethnomusicology, anthropology, and Afro-Cuban cultural production. He holds an M.Sc. in Sound Design from the University of Edinburgh and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Havana.
