From 2014 to 2020, he worked as a Hospitalist at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. Earlier in his career, he specialized in addiction medicine and correctional health at Greenbriar Treatment Center and the Washington County Jail.

Dr. Longnecker is licensed to practice medicine in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming.
