He also represents DAI on the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z535 main committee and serves as chairman of the ANSI Z535.5 subcommittee, contributing to national safety labeling standards.

In addition to his consulting work, Dr. Dorris holds an academic appointment as an Affiliate Professor in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at Auburn University, where he has taught graduate courses in Human Factors Engineering. A Certified Professional Ergonomist, he is affiliated with multiple professional organizations, including the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, the American Society of Safety Engineers, and the Society of Automotive Engineers. Dr. Dorris has published technical reports, scholarly articles, and a book chapter on safety and warning design, and is a frequent presenter on human factors topics.
