She then pursued her internship and her first residency in Internal Medicine from the University of Utah. She also pursued her second residency in Neurology from the University of Utah. She further pursued her fellowship and third residency in neurology from the University of Miami at Miami, Florida. Currently, Dr. Futrell is the Director of the Intermountain Stroke Center. She was the Adjunct Instructor of Music at the University of Utah from 1973 to 1977. She also knows German, Greek and French in addition to English. She is the member of the American Society of Neuroimaging.
