He completed his B.A. in Biology in 1992 from the State University of New York at Binghamton, Binghamton, New York and then earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1996 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Stony Brook, New York. He then pursued his surgical internship in 1997 from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina and chief residency in General Surgery in 2001 from the West Virginia University of Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. He served in the United States Air Force for the years 1986 to 1992. Currently, Dr. Wingate is a general surgeon at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital and Meadville Medical Centre. Formerly, he served as the Associate Clinical Instructor of Surgery at the State University of New York at Syracuse, School of Medicine for the years 2003 to 2009. He has one publication to his credit. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
