Dr. Michael Tarantino, M.D. is a hematology expert witness based in Illinois. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 1987. He completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Arizona in 1990 and a fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology at the University of Wisconsin in 1993. He is board certified in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology.

Dr. Tarantino is the Founder, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Executive Officer of the Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute, where he has led care and innovation in hematology for over 14 years. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, he specializes in bleeding and clotting disorders and non-malignant hematology. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Anticoagulation Consultation Service at St. Francis Medical Center.

Since 2008, Dr. Tarantino has been a tenured Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. He is the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board of the Platelet Disorder Support Association and served on the Medical Advisory and Scientific Council of the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation from 2012 to 2022. His contributions have been recognized with multiple honors, including the Research Excellence Award (2005, 2017), Physician of the Year (2012), and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the NBDF in 2024.
