Dr. Mehmet Halit Pinar, M.D. is a physician based in Providence, Rhode Island. He is a pediatrician specializing in pediatric pathology. He is Board certified in Pediatrics, Anatomic Pathology, Pediatric Pathology, Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine, . Dr. Pinar received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ankara University School of Medicine in the year 1974. He completed his postgraduate training in various Academic Medical Centers in the U.S and did his residency in Pediatrics from NYU Medical Center followed by a residency in General Pediatrics and a fellowship in Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Under the mentorship of Dr. D. B. Singer, he did his fellowship in Perinatal and Pediatric Pathology from Women and Infants Hospital in Rhode Island where he is currently the Director of Division of Perinatal and Pediatric Pathology. Some of his research interests are - perinatal pathology, placental pathology, S.C.R.N. (Stillbirth Collaborative Research Network) and stillbirth. Most recently he was the recipient of Distinguished Service Award and Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2015 and 2017 respectively. He has also done Military service as 1st Lieutenant, Turkish Naval Forces, Section Chief Division of Neonatology Department of Pediatrics Gülhane Military Academic Medical Center, Ankara, Turkey from 1985 to 1987. He holds the position of Professor in Brown Medical School Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Pinar was the Founding member of Turkish Neonatal-Perinatal Society. He is has medical license to practice in Rhode Island.
