She then completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1979 and her Master of Science in Nursing in 1992 from Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing followed by her Ph.D. in 2004 from New York University. Dr. Shelkey further completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Washington, School of Nursing. Currently, Dr. Shelkey is the Associate Professor and the Director of Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program at Seattle University. Additionally, she is the geriatric nurse practitioner at Group Health Cooperative.
