He completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Cum Laude from the John Carroll University at Cleveland, Ohio in 1978 and then earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1981 from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. He further pursued his internship and residency in emergency medicine from the St. Vincent Hospital and Medical Center and the Toledo Hospital located at Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Lutz has held numerous leadership positions within the Greenville Hospital System, including Medical Director and administrator of Emergency Services for years. Currently, he serves as the Chief of Emergency Medical Transport Services and is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine. Nationally, he has been an Oral Examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine since 1988, and continues to serve as a senior oral examiner.
