He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1981 and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Santa Monica Hospital in 1984. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the Anderson School of Business at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1999, and a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from Stanford University in 1977. Dr. Needham is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice, with re-certifications in 1991 and 1998. 

With over 30 years of experience in both clinical and executive roles, Dr. Needham has held several leadership positions in healthcare management. He is the Co-CEO of SMBP Health Services Inc. since 1996 and has previously served as the Consulting CEO for the Medical Institute/Little Company of Mary, and as President of Santa Monica Bay Physicians and Santa Monica Family Physicians. Dr. Needham has been a family physician with Santa Monica Bay Physicians since 1984, combining his clinical expertise with business leadership to drive success in the healthcare field.
