Dr. Mark Russell Jennings, Ph.D., is a fisheries biologist, herpetologist, and aquatic ecologist with more than four decades of professional experience in wildlife biology, fisheries science, and natural resource research. He earned an Associate of Arts in Life Sciences from Ventura College in 1976, a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries in 1978 and a Master of Science in Natural Resources in 1981 from Cal Poly Humboldt, and a Ph.D. in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from the University of Arizona in 1986.

Dr. Jennings has served as President, Herpetologist, and Fisheries Biologist at Rana Resources since 1988. He has concurrently held appointments with environmental consulting firms including Live Oak Associates, Mosaic Associates, and Zander Associates, while serving as a Research Associate in the Department of Herpetology at the California Academy of Sciences since 1987. His previous positions include research and consulting roles with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Geological Survey, National Biological Service, the University of California, and other public and private organizations.

His areas of work include aquatic ecology, ichthyology, herpetology, mammalogy, taxonomy, conservation biology, contaminants, historical studies, and interactions between native and introduced species. Dr. Jennings has authored numerous publications across these disciplines, participated in research, teaching, and environmental consulting, and has experience providing expert witness testimony in Federal District Court. His professional background also includes longstanding participation in scientific societies related to fisheries, herpetology, and wildlife biology.
