Dr. Mark P. Cal, Ph.D., P.E., BCEE, is a civil and environmental engineer with expertise in air pollution control, atmospheric dispersion modeling, ambient air quality, adsorption, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, multimedia chemical fate and transport, water resources engineering, and pavement engineering. He holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil & Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New Mexico and a Board Certified Environmental Engineer in the Air Pollution Engineering specialty.

Since 1991, Dr. Cal has provided consulting engineering services specializing in air quality engineering and dispersion modeling using AERMOD. He currently serves as Campus Director and Vice President for Academic Affairs at New Mexico State University Alamogordo, where he is also a tenured Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His prior roles include Department Chair at New Mexico Tech, Director of the New Mexico Environmental Finance Center, and various faculty appointments.

Dr. Cal has been Principal Investigator on 21 funded research projects totaling $6.2 million, served on over 30 federal review panels, and authored 100 publications. His professional service includes leadership roles with NCEES, the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, and the Air & Waste Management Association.
