Dr. Van Susteren is board-certified in both general and forensic psychiatry.
Dr. Van Susteren has held academic positions at Georgetown University School of Medicine and has been actively involved in community actions and pro-bono forensic consultations. She is a co-founder of the Climate Psychiatry Alliance and Interfaith Moral Action on Climate and serves on multiple boards related to environmental and public health. In private practice since 1987, she has also served as a staff psychiatrist at several mental health centers and as a consultant to the CIA.
