Dr. Lee Wilton Shockley, M.D. is an esteemed emergency medicine expert with extensive experience in both clinical and academic settings. He earned his M.D. from the University of Colorado in 1984, after completing a B.A. in Natural Sciences at Johns Hopkins University.  Dr. Shockley also holds an M.B.A. from Regis University, graduating with honors in 2009. His medical training includes a Transitional Internship at Highland General Hospital in Oakland, California, followed by an Emergency Medicine Residency at the same institution. He completed his residency in 1987 and became board certified in Emergency Medicine in 1989. He holds multiple medical licenses, including active certification in Colorado, and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Currently, Dr. Shockley serves as the Vice Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, a position he has held since 2011. He is also the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Denver Health Medical Center and an Associate Director of Technical Physician Services at the City and County of Denver. Additionally, Dr. Shockley has been a key faculty member at Denver Health Paramedic School since 2000 and holds various leadership roles in medical education. With decades of clinical experience, Dr. Shockley has also contributed significantly to emergency medicine residency programs, including his role as Senior Associate Residency Director at Denver Health Medical Center from 2004 to 2010. His academic expertise is complemented by his leadership in emergency medical services and his commitment to advancing the field through teaching, research, and administration.
