Laurie L. Levenson is a law professor and former federal prosecutor with extensive experience in criminal law, criminal procedure, and legal ethics. She serves as the David W. Burcham Chair in Ethical Advocacy at Loyola Law School, where she teaches and coordinates programs addressing ethical issues and advocacy in the criminal justice system. She is also the founding director of Loyola’s Project for the Innocent, an initiative focused on overturning wrongful convictions, and directs Loyola’s Center for Ethical Advocacy and the Fidler Institute on Criminal Justice.

Professor Levenson has taught and written in the areas of criminal law, criminal procedure, evidence, white collar crime, terrorism and the law, and professional responsibility. Her academic appointments include service as a distinguished visiting professor at UCLA School of Law, USC Gould School of Law, and Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. Earlier in her career, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California, handling both trial and appellate matters. Her prosecutorial work included white collar crime, public corruption, narcotics offenses, civil rights violations, and violent federal crimes. She also held leadership roles as Chief of the Criminal Appeals Section and Chief of the Training Section.

Professor Levenson is the author and co-author of numerous legal treatises, practice manuals, and law review articles addressing criminal law, criminal procedure, prosecutorial ethics, and post-conviction practice. Her work is frequently cited by practitioners, courts, and scholars examining complex criminal justice issues.
