Kevin Fox Gotham

Dr. Kevin Fox Gotham, Ph.D., CPP, is a seasoned sociologist with expertise in forensic criminology, urban sociology, and the political economy of real estate and housing policy. A Professor of Sociology at Tulane University, Dr. Gotham has held various academic leadership roles, including serving as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, Grants, and Research for Tulane's School of Liberal Arts and as Director of the Urban Studies Program.

Certified as a Protection Professional (CPP) by ASIS International, Dr. Gotham’s work spans forensic and environmental criminology, security management, and workplace violence. He regularly consults on security management and has contributed to premises liability litigation, particularly in crime foreseeability and negligent security assessments. His forensic criminology research applies social science methods to analyze foreseeability issues in the context of legal cases, particularly for environments like convenience stores and gas stations, where security challenges are high.

Dr. Gotham has co-authored influential texts, including Practicing Forensic Criminology and has published extensively on urban crises, disaster recovery, and socio-environmental risks post-Katrina.
