He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine from Parkland Memorial Hospital in 1982 and his Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine UT from Southwestern - Parkland Memorial Hospital in 1984. He is affiliated with Emory Healthcare Network and Southeastern Lung Care. Dr. Melby is a member of American College of Physicans, American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society Inc., and Society of Critical Care Medicine. He is an internist with over 40 years of experience in Pulmonary medicine. He is also a member of Atlanta Pulmonary group. Prior to joining Atlanta Pulmonary Group in 1996, Dr. Melby was affiliated with North Atlanta Respiratory Care 1984-1996. Prior to joining the Saint Joseph's Medical Group , he was in private practice on the Saint Joseph's Hospital campus since 1984. His main clinical involvement at this time is in critical care, and he serves as the Medical Director for Critical Care at Saint Joseph's. He is trained in interventional pulmonology and provides consultation in pulmonary disease. Dr. Melby serves as a trustee on the Saint Joseph's Hospital Board of Directors. He is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
