Kenmotsu’s work focuses on conflict resolution, mediation, nonverbal communication, leadership, human rights, and the relationship between embodied practices and legal or interpersonal conflict. She has served as a Minnesota Rule 114 qualified neutral mediator and is a board member of Community Mediation Minnesota. She also serves as secretary of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s ADR Section Council and participates in its ADR grants subcommittee.
Her publications and presentations address transnational repression, human rights, nonverbal communication, mediation, cybersecurity, genocide, and movement analysis. She has conducted research on transnational harassment and discrimination affecting Uyghurs in the United States.
Before joining Mitchell Hamline, Kenmotsu taught theater and dance at Hamline University and co-directed its Conflict Studies Program. Her professional background also includes arts administration, economic development, community programming, and service on nonprofit, academic, and civic boards. She has performed with and contributed to several Minnesota dance organizations, including Black Label Movement and Li Chiao-Ping Dance.
