Expert Details
Dr. Broome earned a Ph.D. in Survey Methodology from the University of Michigan in 2012. Her doctoral dissertation examined the vocal characteristics, speech, and behavior of telephone interviewers and their role in survey participation. She also holds a Master of Science in Applied Social Research from Hunter College of the City University of New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Connecticut College.
Prior to founding Southpaw Insights, Dr. Broome worked in research and insights roles at Ogilvy Public Relations and StrategyOne/Edelman Public Relations, where she designed and implemented qualitative and quantitative research projects and developed research-based measurement tools. Earlier in her career, she conducted program evaluation and social research for nonprofit and social service organizations.
Her research has been published in academic journals and conference proceedings related to survey methodology, interviewer behavior, and public opinion research. She has also taught courses in questionnaire design and survey research techniques at the University of Michigan’s Summer Institute in Survey Research Techniques.
