Dr. Jerry L. Authier, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in the State of Nebraska and has extensive experience in behavioral science within family medicine and academic medical settings. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Portland in 1973, following a Master of Science in Psychology from Eastern Washington State College in 1970 and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the same institution in 1966. 

Dr. Authier has held a long-standing academic and clinical role with Clarkson Family Medicine, where he has served as Director of Behavioral Science in varying capacities since 1991 and continues in that role. Prior to this appointment, he served on the faculty of the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the Departments of Family Practice and Psychiatry, first as an Assistant Professor beginning in 1973 and later as an Associate Professor with tenure beginning in 1978. 

His professional experience includes work in private psychological practice in Omaha, Nebraska, as well as consulting work with Clarkson Hospital. Dr. Authier also completed a psychology internship at the Nebraska Psychiatric Institute. 

Dr. Authier has participated in grant-supported medical education initiatives related to family medicine training and research. His scholarly work includes research on physician-patient communication, depression in chronic pain patients, and behavioral training in medical education. He has authored and co-authored multiple articles in journals addressing family medicine, counseling psychology, and psychiatric practice.
