Dr. Kurrus completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia and went on to complete a fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care at the University of Utah. He is board-certified in both Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Currently, Dr. Kurrus serves as the Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St. Mark's Hospital under HCA Physician Services, a role he has held since 2011. With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Kurrus is a leader in the field of critical care and pulmonary health, providing expertise in patient care and ICU management.
