His clinical focuses include imaging assessment of diseases of the liver and biliary tract, diagnosis of benign and malignant diseases of the pancreas, diagnosis and staging of colorectal cancer, evaluation of inflammatory bowel disease with CT and MR enterography and fluoroscopic evaluation of oesophageal and gastrointestinal disorders. Dr. Heiken is actively involved in gastrointestinal tract research and resident and fellow education. He has been certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology in 1982. He has received a Gold Medal Award from the Society of Abdominal Radiology in 2019, Gold Medal from International Cancer Imaging Society in 2014, a Certificate of Merit from Radiological Society of North America in 2013 and Honorary Fellowship from Radiological Society of South Africa in 2013. He is a member of the Parameters and Technical Standards Committee, American College of Radiology since 2013, Special Awards Committee of Society of Abdominal Radiology since 2015 and Gold Medal Committee of Society of Computed Body Tomography & Magnetic Resonance since 2014.
