He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Texas Tech University in 2007, following a pre-doctoral internship at the Charleston Consortium Psychology Internship Program at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Dempsey also holds a Master of Arts in Psychology from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Long Beach.
Currently, Dr. Dempsey serves as the Chief Scientist at Trac9.com, LLC, and has been a key leader in the field of recovery science through his co-founding roles at both Recovery Science, LLC and NLW Partners, LLC. With an extensive academic career, he has served as an Assistant Professor in the Addictive Disorders and Recovery Studies Program at Texas Tech University and as a core faculty member in the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University. Dr. Dempsey’s previous positions include directing psychological services and research at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Tobacco Research and Prevention, and working as a post-doctoral fellow at the Medical University of South Carolina’s Center for Drug and Alcohol Problems.
