Dr. James L. Hewitt, M.D. is a seasoned psychiatrist with a rich background in both clinical practice and academia. He earned his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia in 1974 and holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, completed in 1970. Dr. Hewitt has also undergone extensive psychoanalytic training at the Philadelphia Association for Psychoanalysis, with specialized training in both adult and child divisions.

With decades of experience in psychiatry, Dr. Hewitt has served as a Psychiatric Consultant at various institutions, including the Vineland Children's Residential Treatment Center in 1990. He also had a long tenure as a Psychiatrist on Staff at West Jersey Hospital, Camden, from 1980 to 1998. From 1977 to 1991, he was the Director of the Hahnemann Community Mental Health Center Day Hospital in Philadelphia. Additionally, Dr. Hewitt held a Clinical Assistant Professorship at Hahnemann University from 1977 to 1994.
