He further pursued his residency in Clinical Pathology in 1994 from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina. Currently, Dr. Downs is a consultant forensic pathologist at Forensic Examiners/forensX, LLC and also a consultant of behavioural sciences unit at the FBI Academy, Quantico, Virginia. He is also a visiting instructor at National Forensic Academy, University of Tennessee and a Board of Advisor at Law Enforcement Innovation Center, University of Tennessee. He also maintains his private practice at Savannah, Georgia. He has several publications to his credit. He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists since 1992, College of American Pathologists since 1990, American Academy of Forensic Sciences since 1993 and National Association of Medical Examiners since 1991.
