James W. Borden

James W. Borden is a highly experienced law enforcement and forensic video analysis expert, with over 25 years in the field. He has a diverse and distinguished career, combining his expertise in police performance dynamics, use-of-force analysis, and forensic video investigations. James holds advanced certifications in Force Science and law enforcement, including a P.O.S.T. Advanced Certificate, and has received specialized training in cognitive interviewing and investigative strategies from UCLA's Dr. Edward Gieselman.

Currently, James serves as the founder and lead instructor of Critical Incident Review (CIR), where he provides expert training and lectures on critical incident investigations. He is also the co-founder of the Association of Force Investigators (AFI) and has been an integral part of Yottageek, L.L.C., providing beta testing and forensic video software development. As a recognized expert witness since 2014, James provides analysis and testimony on police practices, use-of-force incidents, and forensic video and audio examination. His work spans both the public and private sectors, where he applies his extensive knowledge in video analysis, forensic investigations, and law enforcement training. Additionally, James has contributed to the Force Science Institute, both as a staff presenter and senior instructor, and has developed training programs focusing on use-of-force decision-making, de-escalation, and scenario-based training. With a career rooted in the Henderson Police Department, where he retired as a Sergeant, James Borden’s expertise also extends to videography, forensic video production, and critical incident review, making him a trusted authority in law enforcement investigations and video evidence analysis.
