Howard Michael Belmont

Howard Michael Belmont, M.D. is a Rheumatologist and Internist in New York. He is affiliated with New York University Langone Hospitals. He has been in medical practice more than 37 years. He has more experience with connective tissue disorders, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, Wegener’s Granulomatosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, systemic vasculitis, and scleroderma than other specialists in his area. His research interests include mechanisms of vascular injury in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), the role of complement, adhesion molecules, nitric oxide and endothelial cells in SLE, and novel therapies for lupus nephritis. He completed his medical from University of Pittsburgh in 1980. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine from Mount Sinai Medical Center in 1983. He completed his fellowship in Rheumatology from New York University Medical Center in 1985. He is certified Internist and Rheumatologist from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1983 and in 1986 respectively. He is Professor in Department of Medicine at New York University, Grossman School of Medicine. He is also Director in Infusion Services, New York University, Langone Orthopedic Center and Medical Director, New York University Langone Orthopedic Hospital. He has authored article in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Rheumatology, Arthritis & Rheumatology, Lupus, and the New England Journal of Medicine. Additionally, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the New York Rheumatism Association, and on the Board of Governors of the New York Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. He is widely recognized as a leader in the research and clinical fields of rheumatology.
