Currently, Dr. Pastores is the Clinical Professor (Emeritus) of Genetic Medicine at University College Dublin and is a consultant in Adult Metabolic Service at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. Prior to this, he was the Visiting Professor at Yale University School of Medicine and the Associate Professor in Neurology and Pediatrics at New York University. Further before that, he was the Assistant Professor in Human Genetics and Pediatrics at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
