Dr. Gary Michael Vilke M.D., F.A.C.E.P., F.A.A.E.M.is a board-certified Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine.He has been in practice for more than 20 years. He is specialized in Emergency Medicine / General Emergency Medicine. He is affiliated with UC San Diego Health-Jacobs Medical Center (San Diego, CA) and VA San Diego Healthcare System(San Diego, CA) His Certifications & Licensure - American Board of Emergency Medicine (Certified in Emergency Medicine) and CA State Medical License Dr.Vilkecompleted his undergraduate education at University of California, Berkeley and his medical school training at University of California, San Diego School of MedicineLa Jolla. He completed a surgical internship and an emergency medicine residency program at UCSD as well. He completed a residency in emergency medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where he also earned his medical degree. He is board-certified in emergency medicine and is a fellow of ACEP and AAEM. He works clinically at the UC San Diego Health’s Emergency Departments in Hillcrest and La Jolla and the two UCSD urgent care facilities. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of the EMS/Disaster Medicine Division at UCSD. Other administrative roles include being the former medical director for the City of Carlsbad and Chula Vista City Fire Departments and Mercy Air Service. He is also the former medical director for three fixed winged air ambulance companies, Aeromedevac, Aviamedix and AirLinkUSA. Dr.Vilke currently serves as the Medical Director of the San Diego County North Zone Fire Protection District which is a consortium of 18 individual EMS agencies He has been awarded with - Random House Medical Student Award, Random House Medical Student Award, Random House Medical Student Award, Outstanding Emergency Medicine Resident, Outstanding Emergency Medicine Resident, Outstanding Emergency Medicine Resident,Golden Apple Teaching Award, Outstanding Scientific Abstract, UCSD Emergency Medicine Residency Graduating Class of 2000, Faculty of the Year, Best Oral Presentation, Top Doctor in San Diego County (2004 – 2014), Top Peer Reviewer, Academy of Clinician Scholars, Finalist San Diego Business Journal Health Care Champion Award, Undergraduate Campus Outstanding Faculty Mentor of the Year.
