Francesco Pia, Ph.D. also known as Frank Pia is the founder and president of Pia Enterprises, Larchmont, New York. He offers expert consulting to government agencies in the drafting of rules and legislation and provide expert evidence to legal teams engaged in aquatic injury litigation. His organization, Pia Enterprises is a recognized leader in the creation of drowning prevention programs and lifeguard training. He also offers certified training programs for lifeguards and others who supervise children while swimming, as well as advanced training for lifeguards and aquatic supervisors. His goal is to produce lifeguard training DVDs on drowning person recognition and scanning strategies and to offer general audience DVDs on drowning prevention and aquatic injury prevention. He was first certified as a lifeguard by New York Parks and Recreation in 1959, and then assigned to Orchard Beach in the Bronx. He has an experience of 32 years in this field.
