He earned his M.D. in 1995 from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York. He completed his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1987 from Columbia University, New York. He further pursued his internship from Medical College of Pennsylvania and residency in Emergency Medicine in 1999 from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also finished his fellowship in 2001 from Harvard Program in Medical Toxicology, Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. Currently, Dr. Boyer is an emergency medicine specialist at Brigham and Women's Hospital and UMass Memorial Medical Centre. He has numerous publications to his credit. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Medical Toxicology since 2001 and American College of Emergency Physicians since 2007.
