He graduated from the University of Illinois with his medical degree in the year 1988. He further completed M.S.P.H. in epidemiology from the University of Alabama School of Public Health. During his postdoctoral training, he completed his internship and residency from the University of Iowa and maternal-fetal medicine fellowship from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1994. Currently, he is the Brown/Women & Infants principal investigator for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Research Network, and professor of obstetrics and gynecology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
