He completed his high School from Griffin High School, Springfield Illinois 62704 (Salutatorian). Further, in 1970, he completed his B.S. (cum laude) from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana 4 6556. He graduated in Medical from Washington University, St. Louis Missouri, and School of Medicine medical school in 1974. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine rom the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. Then, he completed his Fellowship in Infectious Diseases from the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He has participated in studies of new antibiotics and other treatments of infection since 1984. He currently practices at Montgomery County Health Department and is affiliated with HSHS St. John's Hospital.
