He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed undergraduate studies in behavioral science and health at the University of Utah.

He holds an active Hawaii medical license, along with DEA and state narcotics licenses. Dr. Johnson is board certified in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine by the American Osteopathic Association. His professional activities include consulting work related to preoperative planning software and robotic applications for total shoulder arthroplasty, serving as a clinical educator overseeing orthopedic clerkships, and participation on hospital trauma and quality committees. He has also participated in and led multiple international medical missions providing orthopedic surgical care, including total knee arthroplasty.
