Dr. David A. Swanson, Ph.D., is a distinguished expert in Sociology and Population Studies. He holds a Ph.D. in 1985 and an M.A. in 1976 in Sociology/Population Studies from the University of Hawai'i, a Graduate Studies Diploma in Social Science/Swedish from the University of Stockholm in 1974, and a B.Sc. in Sociology/Mathematics from Western Washington State College in 1972.
Dr. Swanson currently serves as the Edward A. Dickson Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Riverside. He is also a Research Associate at the Population Research Center, Portland State University; a Faculty Affiliate at the Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology, University of Washington; and a Research Fellow at the Social Science Research Center, Mississippi State University. He also served on the U.S. Census Bureau’s Scientific Advisory Committee for six years, where he chaired the committee for two years.
