David M. Lang, Ph.D. is a Professor of Economics at California State University, Sacramento, where he has served as Chair of the Department of Economics since 2015. Dr. Lang’s academic experience includes positions at California State University, Sacramento, the University of California, Davis, and the University of the Pacific, among others. He has taught economics, statistics, and mathematics at the undergraduate and graduate levels and has directed multiple interdisciplinary academic programs.

His research covers topics in labor economics, education policy, cultural economics, and applied microeconomics. Published work includes studies on student achievement, financial aid, DVD and box office revenues, and the economics of sports. He has presented at conferences hosted by the Western Economic Association International, the Society of Labor Economists, and the American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences.

Dr. Lang has served as an editorial board member, referee, and reviewer for academic journals and textbooks. He has provided expert witness testimony in assorted lawsuits and remains active in professional associations including the American Economic Association and the Western Economic Association International.
