Dr. David Steven Friedman, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H. is an ophthalmology expert witness from Maryland. His clinical expertise also includes glaucoma care, cataract surgery and ophthalmic epidemiology. He has active medical licenses from the states of Maryland and Massachusetts and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He completed his B.A. in East Asian Studies in the year 1985 from the Yale University at New Haven, Connecticut and then earned his M.D. in 1992 from Harvard Medical School at Boston, Massachusetts. He also completed his internship in Internal Medicine and his residency in Ophthalmology from the New England Deaconess Hospital at Boston, Massachusetts and the Wills Eye Hospital at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then completed his fellowship in Glaucoma from Johns Hopkins University. He further completed his M.P.H. in 1997 and then completed his Ph.D. in 2007 from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Hygiene and Public Health and the Johns Hopkins University, Department of Epidemiology. Currently, Dr. Friedman is the Co-Director of Glaucoma Center of Excellence at the Harvard Medical School. He is also the Director of Glaucoma Service and the Albert and Diane Kaneb Chair in Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear. Additionally, Dr. Friedman is the Professor of Ophthalmology and the Professor of International Health at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has several publications to his credit. He can speak Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and Indonesian in addition to English.
